Mobile Phone Connections

Overview

AccessMyLan enables users with mobile phones to connect to e-mail and other applications in the office network.  Users with phones that support Microsoft Exchange (ActiveSync) are supported on any mobile operator network. Where the mobile partner network is integrated with AccessMyLan, any handset can be connected to the office network. Mobile handset access is a standard AccessMyLan feature and is included with each user subscription.

Microsoft Exchange Capable Handsets

Any handset that supports Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync is supported as a device on AccessMyLan. Handsets that include this feature include Apple iPhone (Software 2.0 and later), any Windows Mobile 5, Windows Mobile 6, Palm Treo and Nokia E- and N-Series devices. AccessMyLan provides security and device authorisation which reduces configuration and management effort. The handset establishes a secure connection to AccessMyLan (over any Internet medium including WiFi) and once authorised, connects directly to the corporate Exchange server via the AccessMyLan VPN infrastructure.

Handsets on Integrated Operator Partners

Where an operator's network is integrated with AccessMyLan, subscribers on the operator network can connect any cellular device to the office network using AccessMyLan. This includes standard handsets from any vendor which have e-mail clients to connect directly and securely to internal e-mail servers using IMAP4 or POP3. Handset configuration is simplified by delivering the device configuration over-the-air using SMS messages. AccessMyLan provides a full network link from the handset to the office network that supports any handset application taking the handset beyond just e-mail.
